Youth programs have proven to be a successful way of supporting young Indigenous people to improve their social and educational skills, leading to employment opportunities and further education. By providing opportunities to develop leadership skills, and participate in sport and recreation activities, youth are less likely to become involved in destructive behaviour, which have long term health and social complications.
YCA requires volunteers with experience in social work to transfer skills and knowledge to local youth workers. Volunteers will run training for staff as well as facilitate programs that focus on leadership development, skills training, careers development, education, and sport and recreation.
Applications are now open for June/July 2013! Programs run from 4-10 weeks.
