Catwalk for Compassion

3/7/2013

Brisbane-based student Jacqui Toumbas is volunteering her time to the Paradise Kids 4 Africa (PK4A) organisation, and has created an event to raise funds for children in West Africa – Catwalk to Compassion. According to World Vision, more than 6000 children under the age of five die each day from lack of basic sanitation and hygiene. Faced with the shocking conditions that are commonplace in this part of the world, Jacqui was inspired to take action.

On 16 August, 7pm in the new Rainbow Room at the luxurious Cloudland bar, the first Catwalk to Compassion event will feature runway shows from the likes of Teal and Tala and Red Square clothing. All proceeds will go towards building a new toilet block, a clinic and hand-washing bays in the Syke Street school of Freetown in Sierra Leone.

Jacqui believes that the “joy of life is giving”. Using her weekends to coordinate her fundraising efforts from community raffles to volunteer work in third world countries, Jacqui hopes to make Catwalk to Compassion an annual event to remind Gen Ys of their potential to change the world.

When: 16 August, 7pm
Where: Cloudland bar, 641 Ann St, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.

To support this amazing event, purchase tickets at http://pk4a.com/en/2013-catwalk-2-compasion/ for $60 per person.
