Service Delivery Integration Project
The first research project will look at the good practice in integrated service delivery that assist YARI funded services and Youth Justice Services to improve the integration of their service delivery.
The project will research models of integration and collaboration, particularly those with an evidence base that have been evaluated locally or demonstrated to work well at the local level. This aligns with the department's priority to reduce offending and keeping young people safe from harm. The research will also include:
• Case studies of a variety of service models that work well highlighting their success factors
• Challenges to effective working relationships and how these may be overcome
• The department will collaborate with YANQ to identify locations where good working relationships are evident
It is envisaged that this research project will contribute to enhancing voluntary pathways for young people "at risk" to receive appropriate levels of support by documenting and promoting evidence based models which demonstrate collaboration and integration between Government and Non-Government service providers.
In February/March 2012 YANQ will visit services and/or partners/networks engaging in good practice in local service integration and collaboration and engage staff across a range of levels in action research process to gather information and insights. YANQ will conduct interviews with Doc Staff, NGO's and young people to identify success factors and barriers, develop draft principles and practices of effective service integration or collaboration and conduct forums to test and analyse emerging data regarding integration and collaboration using the action research questions of inquiry.

The second research project will produce a document that could assists youth services and government agencies to better engage "at-risk" young people (including Indigenous, CALD, rural and remote, LGBTI, disability) via social media. This project aligns with the department's priority of engaging young people. The project will include the exploration and documentation of the following:
• Examples where social media is being effectively used by young people who are "at risk"
• Document key policies and practice frameworks that drive/assist effective engagement of "at risk" you people through social media.
• Challenges to use of social media by young people who are "at risk" and ideas about how these can be overcome
• The benefits young people "at risk" would derive from more effective engagement with government and community services via social media
It is envisaged that this research project will enhance the capacity of youth services and government agencies to better engage "at-risk" young people via social media. The research will:
• Identify key policy and practice issues which can enhance the use of social media by young people "at risk", government and non government organisations
• Cite the evidence base underpinning the key success factors contributing to use of social media by young people "at risk" and challenges at policy and implementation levels.
We need your help!
YANQ is interested to find out how your organisation uses Social Media as a tool for engaging with marginalised young people. We are interested in finding out about your policy and practice frameworks and any other learning you might have as a result of using Social Media.
We are also interested to learn about any models of integration and collaboration, particularly those with an evidence base that have been evaluated locally or demonstrated to work well at the local level.
