Legal Aid Services for Young People
Thursday, 18 October 2007 21:16

Legal Aid Queensland is the largest legal service provider in Queensland providing legal information, advice and representation (or going to court) for children and young people.  Below you will find more information about the services they provide and how to access their online resources.

Because Queensland is a decentralised State Legal Aid Queensland uses a variety of ways to deliver legal services:

  • our website - www.legalaid.qld.gov.au
  • our 1300 651 188 Call Centre which you can ring for information, referral or to book in for an advice session with a lawyer
  • our in-house lawyers in Legal Aid Offices in Brisbane, Bundaberg, Caboolture, Cairns, Inala, Ipswich, Mackay, Maroochydore, Mount Isa, Rockhampton, Southport, Toowoomba, Townsville, Woodridge
  • our preferred supplier partners who are private lawyers prepared to do legal aid work
  • Community Legal Centres which are independent, non-profit community organisations that provide free legal services to the public and often offer holistic service provision with youthworker or socialworker support:

What sort of legal problems can Legal Aid Queensland help you with?

  • Criminal law - being charged or questioned by police, attending a youth justice conference, going to court
  • Family law - parents breaking up, violence in your relationship, separating from your partner
  • Child protection - the Department of Child Safety is involved
  • Civil law - debt, buying things you can't afford or don't work, school, renting, being treated unfairly, when you are a victim of crime
