Education Queensland has developed three Queensland Academies that are the first of their kind in Australia:

  1. Queensland Academy for Creative Industries
  2. Queensland Academy for Health Sciences
  3. The Queensland Academy for Health Sciences

Queensland Academy for Creative Industries:  Developed in partnership with Queensland University of Technology this Academy caters for students wishing to specialise in the arts and creative industries.

Queensland Academy for Health Sciences:  With links to Griffith University it will open in 2008 for Year 10 and Year 11 students and be based within the university precinct on the Gold Coast campus.

Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology: It has links with the University of Queensland.

All the Academies are currently searching for high achieving students.  Places are available at both Brisbane-based academies for Year 10 students in 2008. The Queensland Academy for Health Sciences, on the Gold Coast, is registering students for Years 10 and 11 in 2008. Registrations of interest must be received by 19 April 2007.

The Academies offer students benefits including interaction with other bright students, state-of-the-art facilities, industry experience, the opportunity to fast track tertiary study, and individually mentored learning. More information (including video podcasts) can be found at the Academies website - http://www.qldacademies.eq.edu.au.
