AMEP Volunteer Tutor Online Course

Are you looking for an easily accessible course to introduce you to English Language tutoring? All you need is a computer and enthusiasm to take on a new online learning experience.
TAFE English Language and Literacy Services is launching a new online training course for volunteer tutors in English as a Second Language who are:

  • already active in community groups
  • wishing to volunteer in a TAFE Migration Education Program

The EQUAL ENCOUNTERS course is a 15 hour program which runs for 5 weeks that provides foundation knowledge and skills in:

  • cultural awareness
  • the special nature of ESL tutoring to adults
  • the basic principles of communicative language teaching.

This course is completely online, so there is no need to attend classes at awkward times. You will be guided through the course by an online facilitator, who will assist you to feel comfortable with the simple technology of online learning.

PROGRAM for 2012
Offering 1: January 30 - 2 March
Offering 2: 12 March - 27 April (2 week Easter break included)
Offering 3: 8 May - 8 June
