Youth Advocacy Centre (YAC), a Queensland community legal centre, has recently published
the 3rd edition of "Laying Down the Criminal Law: a
Handbook for Youth Workers".
Laying Down the Criminal
Law is an indispensable resource for anyone working with young
people, not just for those who have studied social science or social
work. It is the essential guide to understanding both the laws and
practical aspects of working with young people in Queensland today.
The handbook provides workers with information about the child
protection, youth justice, and education systems as well as general
issues such as confidentiality and negligence.
This book contains 7
realistic scenarios, papers on various topics, information sheets for
young people and many other useful chapters.
Copies of the handbook can be ordered for $40 each (+p&h) using the order form available at http://is.gd/87Hk5.
YAC also offers a
training programme which supplements the book. If you would like
further information, please contact us on (07) 3356 1002 or email at
