Rob White is Professor of Environmental Criminology within the School of Sociology and Social Work at the University of Tasmania. He has taught at a number of universities across Australia – from Perth to Melbourne, Adelaide to Canberra – and has engaged in a number of national and local research projects over the years. His areas of expertise include Youth studies and juvenile justice; Criminology and crime prevention; Local area studies and social impact assessment and Environmental harm and eco-global criminology.
Rob is engaged in a variety of kinds of social research. These include investigation of transnational environmental harm that spans the local-global levels (for example, toxic waste, climate change); evaluation of a post-release prison project; engagement in a capacity building project for working with clients with co-morbidity issues; examination of the children’s court and its role in child protection and juvenile justice; crime prevention provision in relation to the construction of safe and vibrant community spaces; and study of the policing of hazardous waste disposal. |
