Suzi Quixley's keynote presentation at the State Youth Affairs Conference, 'Doing It Differently? - The Unique Contribution of Youth Work' can be downloaded here.
A long time activist, academic and face-to-face worker, Suzi has enjoyed a varied career in the community services and health industries over the past 30+ years. Since 1989, much of her work has been through her business - ESSQ Community Services Consultancy. Suzi has worked with human rights driven organisations throughout Australia, providing training, writing, organisational development, research and individual professional development/supervision.
As a practicing youth worker, Suzi has mainly worked with unemployed, homeless, criminalised, rural, intellectually disabled and HIV+ young women and men in a wide variety of settings over the past 30 years, mainly in South Australia. At a sectoral level, she has contributed to a wide variety of peak organisations (including YANQ) and national committees and working parties, particularly related to youth sector training and development. She has also enjoyed a couple of stints as an academic – 3 years as one of the inaugural lecturers in Youth Work at Edith Cowan University (1986-9), and 4 years as a lecturer in Community Services Management at Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore (2000-2003). |
