At the 2009 YPP, over a hundred young people will take over the chambers of Parliament House for three dynamic days of discussion and debate about the challenges of conflict and the possibilities of peace.
A free event, students are asked to outline their thoughts on one of three topics:
1) Global Social Justice
2) Militarism
3) Community Peace and Harmony.
For the first time this year, young people will participate in parallel activities to help shape those debates. They can get involved in drama, music and dance performances, art displays, media production, research or creative lobbying. Whether a 'parliamentarian', a 'researcher', or an 'activist', if young people have a flair for the arts, drama, music and dance, they are welcome to attend the two preparatory workshops and start exploring possibilities.
Workshops will be held on the 27th of June and 25th of July, with the YPP on September 21 to 23 in the Queensland Parliament House.
Expressions of interest can be completed online at www.idpa.org.au/ypp and should be returned by June 17.
