The following letter was sent to the major parties contesting the 2009 Queensland State Election. If we receive any responses, they will be posted to this website.
Dear Candidate,
RE
Youth Disability Advocacy Queensland (YDAQ)
Youth Disability Advocacy Queensland (YDAQ) is
dedicated to providing advocacy for young persons with disabilities
throughout the state. We are affiliated with Youth Affairs Network
of Queensland (YANQ), the state's peak youth body, and have
widespread support from the disability sector.
A copy of the YDAQ Service Proposal has been
enclosed for your perusal. This document lists the organisations and
individuals who already support the initiative.
We are requesting a formal statement of your
party's position on how government can support the rights of
Queensland's young people with disabilities. Specifically, we want
to know what resources your government would allocate for this
population and this purpose.
We would also like to invite your candidate to
speak to our group about the issues facing persons with disabilities
in Queensland. If this would be possible please send us some
possible dates and times.
We are sending a press release to various media
throughout the state advising them that we have made this request of
all parties in this election.
Yours sincerely
Dr Bob Jacobs, YDAQ Director
