What's Going on at YANQ

Coming up in the next 2 weeks...

  • Re-organise the Research, Reports & Articles section of YANQ's website.
  • Decipher masses of butcher's paper from the Brisbane Youth Social Policy Solutions workshop.
  • Send out Date-Claimers for the Moreton Bay Region's Re-engagement Forum.
  • Meet with Southern Cross University bout ADHD research.
  • As a subgroup of the Future Forum organise the Queensland response to the Federal Government's consultation on a Compact.
  • Meet with the Workforce Council and RimFire Research group about the Youth Sector Workforce Development project.
  • Attend a youth Housing meeting at Qld Shelter.
  • Host the meeting of the Multicultural Youth Network of Queensland (MYNQ).
  • Attend a reception for the African Community at Parliament House.
  • Attend the launch of Youth Suicide Prevention Project by Open Doors.
  • Attend the next meeting of the South East Qld Intercultural Cities Forum (SEQICF).
  • Attend the AGM of Youth Advocacy Centre.

What happened in the Last 2 Weeks...

  • Held a Youth Social Policy Solutions Forum in Brisbane (outcomes will be published in the next two weeks);
  • Met with youth services in the Moreton Bay Region (Caboolture & surrounds) to plan a Re-engagement Forum in November;
  • Submitted a tender to develop and manage the QLD Governments Community Door Website.  The tender was made by YANQ in partnership with Impact PR and the DBDS Group Pty. Ltd.
  • Attended the Gold Coast Youth Network and floated the idea of holding a Gold Coast Youth Social Policy Solutions workshop;
  • Planned delivery of a two day training on Cross Cultural Youth Work in November;
  • Teleconference with other State's Youth Peak bodies;
  • Attended the Community Services Future Forum and signed off on the Compact with State Government;
  • Attended the launch of Kids Under Cover in Queensland;
  • Attended the State Youth Violence Ministerial Advisory Committee;
  • Planning for the ERACISM forum;
  • met with ECCQ in regards to reduction in funding for Multicultural Affairs Queensland;
  • Participated in a teleconference with the National Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network;
  • Coordinated youth sector's final response to the Draft 3 of the Community Services Training package;
