Information for Young People

Between 2006 and 2009 YANQ is concentrating on encouraging youth workers and youth services to take part in the Youth Consultative Network.  During this period, we urge you to contact your local youth service or youth interagency and ask them:

  • For youth services: do they participate in their local youth interagency, and if so do they use it as a forum to discuss issues facing young people and ways to address them?
  • For youth interagencies: do they provide opportunities for local services and/or young people to attend and discuss the barriers young people face in society.  If they do, have they considered participating in the Youth Consultative Network.

You have a right to ask your service what they are doing to address 'youth issues' locally, regionally, nationally and globally.  The YCN is one strategy your local youth service can use.

YANQ recognises that during this period we are not providing sufficient opportunities for direct involvement by young people.  However, once the strategy for youth services and youth workers is successful we will then turn our attention to creating these opportunities.  We would welcome ANY SUGGESTIONS or advice young people may have.

More information will be posted here, and via our fortnightly E-mail Bulletin when we have some details to share.
