Over
the past 18 months community service lead agencies have been striving
to build a more positive future for the Community Services Sector
through the work of the Future
of the Sector Project.
The work of the project to date has included the development of the
Queensland
Community Services Sector Charter
and
the establishment of a Community
Services Futures Forum.
The
next step in the project is a Communication
Strategy
for the Community Services Sector to
communicate
to
other sectors of society (government, business and the broader
community) what
the Queensland Community Services Sector is, and to raise awareness
of its vital role and invaluable contribution.
The
strategy is essentially about presenting a clear message about who we
are from a united front. This will ensure the sector has a stronger
voice and more influence when speaking out about key issues.
The
strategy is based around the Community
Services Sector Charter
(To

as it clearly articulates what the sector is, and its contribution
and benefit to society.
The
strategy also utilises a range of ‘key
messages'
which have been developed to communicate the most important
information about the sector.
YANQ
is encouraging all organisations to become involved in the
Communication Strategy by using the Charter and the key messages to
promote the sector. An information
and advocacy kit
has been developed to assist organisations in using the Charter and
messages in a range of situations.
Please
feel free to utilise and promote these resources amongst your
networks. Additionally we
would love to hear any comments you have about the usefulness of this
Information and Advocacy kit, how you have used the Charter and the
key messages, or any responses you have had when you have used them.
